Heather has a business degree from Kansas University and a teaching license from Metropolitan State University. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She was on competitive dance teams from 7th grade through college and she taught at dance studios in Kansas and Missouri. She most recently taught Kindergarten and coached high school dance teams in the Denver area. Heather feels completely at home with her Summit Dance family and she spends time with her baby, dogs and husband when she's not dancing at the studio. She can't wait for an exciting new season of dance!
Kristy’s love of gymnastics and dance started the moment she learned she could walk on her tippy toes. She began competing in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 5 and continued to compete for the next 15 years. She was a member of her high school’s Jazz Pom Pom squad and spent time studying ballet and musical theatre. Kristy spent 6 years coaching acro, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics to students ranging from age 2 to adult, and she is excited to now join SSD to teach a new group of students.
Sara is a Colorado native and loved growing up in this beautiful state. She started taking dance and gymnastics at the age of five at her neighborhood dance studio. Her first job was as a gymnastics/acrobatics coach at that same studio. This is where her love for coaching and for kids began. She was a competitive gymnast throughout high school and coaching has been a part of her life for 20 years. She has coached in quaint dance studios, recreation centers and larger private gyms. She has attended multiple training courses throughout the years to enhance her knowledge of the sport and coaching techniques.
Meet Our Instructors
Amy grew up dancing at Miller's Dance Studio in Aurora, Colorado, and continued dancing through college at CU Boulder. She coached the varsity Cheer team at Summit High School for eight years before she came to SSD in 2015. Amy is passionate and excited about sharing her love of dance with her daughter and the students at SSD.
Michelle has been dancing her whole life and began teaching over 20 years ago. She studied ballet at the Belhaven University in Mississippi and has worked in the fields of music and dance ever since. When she is not at the dance studio, she enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor adventurs, and playing piano. Her daugher are two of her students at SSD!
Her academic background (a math major) is a far cry from dance, but dance has been in her soul all her life. Starting out as a figure skater and later an ice dancer, Haruko has had extensive ballet training in SF Bay Area (Ballet Califia), Paris (l'Academie de Danse Montparnasse), and New York City (Steps, Broadway Dance Center, and Alvin Ailey). She moved to Summit County in 2012, and is also an adjunct instructor of ballet at Colorado Mountain College.
Dancing has been a joy, journey, and passion for most of Debbie's life. A native of Summit County and an alumni of Summit School of Dance, Debbie received a BA in Dance from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She also teaches ballroom and wedding dance lessons and has done choreography for Summit High School and the Lake Dillon Theatre.
Kelly grew up studying dance in Lakewood Colorado. She has extensive training in both Cecchetti and Vaganova styles of ballet, as well as modern. She received a minor in dance from CU Boulder where she studied modern, jazz, ballet, pointe, west african, dance history, musicality, kinesiology, and choreography. She started teaching at Summit School of Dance in 2011 and took over the school in 2017. She is amazed at the talent of our kids and excited to continue to give her knowledge of dance to the students of Summit County.
CO.motion Director & Instructor
Mandy was once a student of the SSD. She’s been teaching since 1995. She teaches our advanced students in tap, jazz, leaps, and turns. Mandy was also the original dance director of the Encore Dance Company in Austin Texas. She started the Jr. CO.motion program in 2000 and has been the Director of our award winning CO.motion Dancers since 2001.
& Office Manager
Erin started dancing at the age of 3 and continued through college. She was a member of her high school varsity Pom and was nominated as captain her senior year. After high school, Erin taught preschool dance classes as well as jazz and hip hop to middle school age kids. She also helps the studio as our office manager. She is excited to be on the staff at Summit School of Dance for yet another wonderful year.
