Since 1983 the Summit School of Dance has been sharing their passion for dance with Summit County. They are dedicated to helping students explore their bodies in motion, in a safe, creative, qualified environment.
The Summit School of Dance first opened its doors with just a few dance classes, taught out of the basement of a local church. In the summer of 1988 the studio was purchased by Melanie Frey. Under her direction the SSD grew to house two studios in its main location in Frisco, as well as two satellite studios, one in Eagle County and one in Breckenridge. In June of 2017, Melanie passed the torch to a current teacher, Kelly Threlkeld, who will continue to run the studio with the same mission and values. With approximately 60 classes offered weekly the SSD is sure to have something for everyone.
The Summit School of Dance staff is all experienced in the styles in which they teach. Several of the instructors also hold university degrees in dance. SSD teachers are chosen not only for their qualifications, but for their ability to relate to the students. SSD prides itself in its ability to teach everyone from beginners to advanced level students, and adults.
